Ministries
Seventeen ways to serve, and to be served
Everything below is run by members of this congregation. Some ministries need a team of willing hands, some need a particular skill, and some simply need you to turn up. If one of them speaks to you, say so — every leader here would rather hear from you than not.
Children and young people
Growing up in this church
Adventist Youth Society
Spiritually enriching experiences designed to lead young people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Every third Saturday afternoon: prayer, worship, service and creative activities.
Adventurer Club — ages 4 to 9
Built to strengthen parent and child together, through games, the outdoors, nature, camping, field trips and community service. A five-level curriculum with around 80 award areas.
Pathfinders — ages 10 to 15
Service projects local and global, using God-given talents to make a difference. Six levels and some 350 skill areas covering crafts, aquatics, nature, health, recreation and vocational training.
Joining a club
Adventurers and Pathfinders both run to a yearly calendar, so the best time to ask is now rather than later. Ask about joining
Sabbath morning
The ministries that carry our worship
Sabbath School
The primary religious education program of the church. Each Sabbath the week’s lesson is explored and discussed, with a new mission story each week. Classes for adults, youth, children and new believers at 9:30 AM.
Praise Team
Engaging the hearts and minds of the congregation in exalting God, and supporting congregational singing at the 11:00 AM service and others as assigned.
Deacons and Deaconesses
Keeping services running: the offering, security, setting up and clearing away, and assisting with baptisms and communion. If you have the gift of service, you are needed.
Ushers
The first face a visitor sees. Greeting members and guests, showing people to their seats, handing out bulletins, and staying alert for anyone who needs help.
Outreach
The food pantry
Every Wednesday we give out free fresh groceries in the fellowship hall downstairs. No cost, no catch, no questions asked. It is open to anyone in the neighborhood, member or not, and volunteers are always welcome.
Wednesdays, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Fellowship Hall, 9356 S Justine Street

Service beyond these walls
Community Service
Packing and serving food, distributing clothes, visiting those who cannot get out. Wherever we go in Chicago, these simple kindnesses proclaim that Jesus Christ lives through us.
Health Ministry
Working for the physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing of our members and neighbors, through fitness classes, seminars, health fairs and screenings.
Medical Team
Nurses and physicians from within the congregation who serve on site at health events and screenings.
Adult Bible Studies
One-to-one study for anyone who wants to know more about the Adventist church, go deeper in Scripture, or prepare for baptism. Also for members who would like to give studies. What we believe
Life together
Nurture and discipling
Family Ministry
Strengthening relationships within families of every shape, and encouraging marriages built on biblical principles, through meetings, seminars, workshops and retreats.
Women’s Ministry
Friendship that walks with women through joy and sorrow, and ministry to females of all ages. Includes the annual Women’s Ministry worship service, Girls Night In, the Women’s Retreat and Sip & Paint evenings.
Social Ministry
We pray together, and we play together. Game nights, the Super Bowl party, the annual Fall picnic and holiday events. Volunteers are needed to help plan and run them.
